As to why Hulk refused to come out in Infinity War remains a conundrum among the fan faction. Although the reason has been given by the Directors, fans can’t help but wonder if there is another deeper reason behind this act of Hulk and it’s quite possible that the Russos are misguiding us to avoid giving out spoilers for Avengers Endgame.
We have had many theories which answered the above conundrum, well at least tried to. And now another one graces us which says that the reason has got to do something with Hulk’s stay on Sakaar.
As seen in Thor: Ragnarok, Hulk, after the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron, was somehow transported to Sakaar, where he has garnered quite a fan following with his gladiatorial prowess. He has been there renowned as a champion for two years. But as per this theory, he could have been there for centuries!! The basic fact is that time works differently on Sakaar than it does on Earth.
This is evident from the fact that Loki, seemingly being separated from Thor for just a few hours, actually had been there for weeks. So, applying the same logic to Hulk’s situation would mean that he has been there for centuries, while it amounts to only two years of Earth time.
“This would explain his evolved state ( improved powers of speech, ability to remain as Hulk outside rage models, god-like status, rabid fan base, etc.). It would also explain Bruce Banner acting so weird ( pointed out by Thor) compared to the character’s persona established by Ruffalo in Avengers 1 and 2.”
The point is Hulk never agreed to leave Sakaar. It was Natasha’s video that made him lose control and he reverted back into Banner. On Asgard, after fighting Fenris Wolf, he might have hoped that he would be dropped back at Sakaar. But then came the assault of Thanos and after losing the duel to Thanos and being transferred to Earth, to which he didn’t consent, he didn’t come out to help Banner or anyone else.
