The film rights of X-men and Fantastic Four will soon be the property of Marvel’s and there is a lot of characters that Marvel can introduce into their MCU. Although, it’s a shame we couldn’t get to see the likes of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine with the original six Avengers. Fans have always wished to see Wolverine in Infinity War and now in Avengers Endgame.
Apparently, there weren’t any X-men Easter eggs in the MCU, since these films existed out of the X-men’s universe and in the MCU there aren’t any mutants. Even Wanda Maximoff and her brother were not termed as mutants since Disney didn’t hold rights to the X-men.
But, as discovered by ScreenRant, there was an X-men Easter egg right there at the beginning of the MCU. It was there in Iron Man. This was the scene where Tony tries out his first flight in his IronMan suit. He takes it out for a ride and everything seems to be going well and he decides to break the world record for a winged flight. We can see a still which points out the reference point given against the world record is SR-71 Blackbird. And to the X-men fans, this is the X-jet.
Below is the screenshot attached showing “SR-71 Blackbird”.
Now, there’s a slight catch here. This is actually a world record, in the real world. So, it is hard to say if the Director intentionally placed this here to serve as an Easter egg. Maybe he did intend this Easter egg and coincidentally, there were no rights he was infringing because this is a real world thing too.
Anyways, Hugh Jackman’s workout video on this social media was hashtagged “cameo” which led fans to speculate if there indeed could be Wolverine cameo in Avengers Endgame.
