Directors reveal why Adam Warlock was not in Infinity War

Marvel fans have been waiting for Marvel to announce the inclusion of Adam Warlock in a movie ever since the first Guardians of the Galaxy arrived. And after the little tease of Adam in the second volume of GOTG, we all wondered if he was going to have a role in Infinity War. But it was then confirmed by the Directors that the movie won’t feature Adam Warlock.

In the recent interview held, Joe Russo was asked if they considered having Adam Warlock involved in the movie. He replied, “We had a lot of pre-established character from the books, again, being a comic book fan, I don’t want to see a literal interpretation of a comic book I’ve read a hundred times because I don’t wanna go to a theatre and know exactly what is going to happen.

He explained further, “For me, it kind of ruins the experience of going to a movie. And sometimes we’ll take the arcs that have been assigned to different characters in the books and reassign them to other characters. Or we’re just taking inspiration from the books and really deviating from the storyline, in which case, the characters aren’t applicable to what we’re trying to do in the MCU.

The future of Adam Warlock is in doubt because Disney fired James Gunn. It is no doubt that Gunn had included him in the script he wrote for GOTG Vol. 3. But the question is if the studio will opt for his script or pen down another. The status of GOTG Vol. 3 is now on hold. Perhaps Marvel will deliver more news on the matter when they have their hands off the marketing of Captain Marvel, Avengers 4.
