Thanos’ Snap has been the most brutal thing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far. Just one snap of the fingers and half of our superheroes perished into nothingness. And this phase of them turning into dust was not a delightful ride to witness. Spiderman’s death resonated much more with the audience given his popularity. And to increase the emotional depth of this death scene, the Russos elongated the dying of Spiderman. “I’m sorry.” he said to Tony.
And now Thanos’ infamous Snap has been given an official title by Marvel. In the booklet release by Marvel titled ‘Avengers: Infinity War: The Cosmic Quest Volume Two: Aftermath’, the Snappening has been granted the title, THE DECIMATION. This title perfectly weaves in what the Snap did. It decimated half of the living beings of the whole of the universe. There’s another aspect that is interesting about this. After reading the title, the Xmen comics fans must have been reminded of the event in the comics that led to a similar thing like the Snap.
This could be a nod to the film rights of Xmen going back to Marvel. The Disney-Fox merger should be done by the start of the next year and Marvel fans are going to have the treat of their life when they get to see Xmen and Avengers together sharing the same screen. It is, of course, regrettable that we most likely wouldn’t get to see the likes of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine joining with the original six Avengers. The reins of the MCU will now be handed to the likes of Captain Marvel, Spiderman and Doctor Strange, and Black Panther.
