Avengers 4 is officially titled Avengers: Endgame. We all believe that this title is an allusion to the popular Doctor Strange words from Infinity War, “We’re in the endgame now.” But, as some of you would be well aware, the word ‘Endgame’ has been there in the MCU before Infinity War.
“Endgame” was used by Tony Stark in Avengers: Age of Ultron. His exact words were, “We’re the Avengers. We can bust arms dealers all the livelong day, but that up there……that’s the endgame.”
Now, the remaining Avengers need to regroup to have the fight of their lives against Thanos. But their number is simply insignificant to the powers that the Infinity Stones provide Thanos. Our heroes need some army to fight Thanos.
As per a theory formulated by ScreenRant, Tony will choose to turn to create Ultron again. And this time he will be successful in forming a protective shield around the world, just what the original Ultron was supposed to be.
Like most theories, this one is also built on some observation. ScreenRant noted that in the Avengers Infinity War Day One video, there was a concept art featuring Tony Stark standing in front of some Ironman suits, as can be seen below.
Now, there was no such scene in Infinity War. So, it isn’t too far-fetched to presume that this concept art could very well have some credence in Avengers: Endgame.
Avengers: Age of Ultron played an important role in the shaping of the MCU. It led to the destruction of Sokovia, which then forced the government to keep the heroes in check by presenting Sokovia Accords. And we all know what happened next. The effects of this Accord split up the team and these effects were carried on into Avengers: Infinity War.
