It is in Infinity War that we get to know about why Thanos is hell-bent on amassing the six Infinity Stones. Turns out that he wants to secure a healthy future for the coming generations by killing half of the present living beings.
In a conversation with Doctor Strange, Thanos claims that the killing he does is completely random and not biased at all. It is fair. But a recent fan theory by the Reddit user ‘’nerryoob’ claims that the killing done by The Decimation was not at all random. Every life killed and spared was all done to lead on to a certain chain of events which would ultimately result in the Avengers win against Thanos.
One could obviously argue that everything that was done in Infinity War was done for the sake of plot convenience and this theory does acknowledge that. But this theorist believes that there could be a slight chance that there was a specific reason as to why these events happened the way they happened.
Basically what this theory relates is that the Infinity Stones are alive and they spared the heroes they did for a certain cause. Even the Stones want the events of the Decimation to be undone.
To further the concept of these Infinity Stones being alive, this theory provides some evidence. “When people use the Infinity Stones, e.g people using the tesseract for transportation, Thanos using the reality stone, while it is probably partly the tool it is in, it seems that the stones are doing a lot on their own – they are given the instruction (kill half the universe) given through a simple action (clicking the fingers) and execute it through their power and intelligence.”

It is possible that this theory does turn out to be somewhat true about the sentience of the Infinity Stones. What do you think of this theory? Comment down below.
