We got introduced to Nick Fury in the first Ironman movie. We saw him trying to recruit Tony into being a part of the Avengers. ”You think you are the only superhero?” At that time he knew all about the likes of Captain America, Antman ( Hank Pym) and also about the yet-to-be-familiarised Captain Marvel. It was through Captain Marvel that he got to know about aliens who are not at all friendly. And in Infinity War, we saw him summoning Captain Marvel right before being a victim of Thanos’ Snap.
Now, there’s has already been a theory that claimed that Nick Fury was made aware of how he would see people disappearing in the future and at that time, he ought to press the pager by none other than our beloved Doctor Strange. A recent theory provides some evidence as to why the above theory might have some credence. Just like most theories, this one also employs some eagle-eyed observations. The Reddit user ‘sfmarch07’ says, “If you go watch most of the scenes featuring Nick Fury, it’s like he always knows something that the other characters don’t, like, in Ironman 2, when he gives Tony his father’s box, or in Age of Ultron when he shows up out of nowhere the barn and then pushes the Tony and the team forward to where they ultimately create Vision."
"If you rewatch the nuke scene from Avengers 1, right when Tony goes through the wormhole with the nuke, everyone at SHIELD celebrates except for Fury and Maria Hill, instead, they look at each other and they look dejected/down. You’re meant to assume that they’re sad because they might have just lost Tony. But the movie intentionally doesn’t show Fury’s reaction when Tony comes back through the hole. My theory is they act the way they did because they know that Tony going to through the wormhole is the real beginning of Infinity War.”
