“I assure you, brother. The Sun will shine on us again.” These words from Loki are part of the reason why some fans believe that the God of Mischief is not dead. By some trick, Loki has escaped death once again, they say. The Directors knew this would happen. I think that is why they put the words, “No resurrections this time.” They were telling the audience that Loki is actually dead this time. But the thing we can’t understand is that why would Loki employ such a cheap trick to counter The Mad Titan. A new theory attempts to explain why Loki thought he could subdue Thanos with his little trick knife.
This Redditor ‘Mybustersword’ explains that Loki was fully aware of Thanos’s code of terminating half the population. He knew that Thanos would slaughter one of the Odinsons in line with his rule of balance. Loki was under the suspicion that Thanos would deem Thor as a greater threat than Loki himself and also because Loki had been Thanos’ ally in the past. But Loki opted for a better solution. He sacrificed himself for Thor. He has betrayed and cheated Thor many times in the past. This was his redemption moment. Of course, he couldn’t just speak up that he was willing to die in case Thanos wanted to apply his rule of balance here. Thanos would have obviously gone for Thor. So, he tried to enact that he wanted to kill the Titan by conjuring up a sword and jamming it into his throat. And because he died in battle, this also would have earned him a place in Valhalla.
If you see it, Loki actually tricked Thanos and Thanos bought it. Unfortunately, Thor couldn’t stop Thanos from snapping his fingers. But this is not the end. The events are going to be continued in Avengers 4. The first trailer should arrive about two months later.
